SAVE THE TIGERS

The 8th Dragon Squadron are to make a return to the Alliance space once critical to the inception of the long standing mercenary group. A formal contract has been drawn up by commander Igor Rock of the splinter squad, the Flying Tigers of Eta Draconis – once 8th Dragons themselves – requesting battle assistance in the HIP 80243 system. Conflict over the control of vital system resources and holdings has ensued between the local HIP 80243 Republic Party and the Eta Draconis Gold Vision Company who have strong historical ties with the 8th Dragons. Intel suggests that the Republic Party have managed to secure heavy Federal backing in defence of their operations and sightings of at least one Farragut class warship in system has been reported. Currently the Flying Tigers have taken substantial losses over the last few standard days, and whether the support of the 8th Dragon Squadron will make a difference or not remains to be seen.

GREEN EYES AND BLACK FEATHERS

Mercenary group, the 8th Dragon Squadron of Patocuda, have recently agreed to an undertaking subsidised by the Guardians of Tranquility in a bid to maintain and strengthen ties with the Black Birds Squadron of Munfayl. The Guardians, famous for their mind bending Tarach spice, have have long been allied with the 8th but have lately found themselves at odds with the BBS over control of Jardovici system. Plans have been set in motion for the 8th to support the BBS both economically and politically as a gesture of good will by the GoT, who have no real agenda in Jardovici besides the peddling of their arguably dangerous wares.

Many high ranking members of the 8th Dragon Squadron have expressed a deeply rooted kinship with the similarly focused Black Birds Squadron stating that the current controlling party, the Jardovici Justice Party who, like their Federal benefactors who are against drug use of any kind, are making real moves against local independent traditions...

THE ANNEXATION OF ASOORAJARA

After a brief but bloody three day battle between the People’s Party of Asoorajara and foreign outfit, the 8th Dragon Squadron, it has been confirmed that Stableford Hangar has fallen to the invaders. Since their occupation of the nearby Patocuda system over a year ago,  the 8th Dragon Squadron have begun making waves in other local star systems within the sector including the communist led Asoorajara system. Despite much resistance from the current political contingent, the local defence fleet were completely overwhelmed by the military might of the mercenary group. Reports suggest that there has been an increase in smuggled contraband and piracy within the shipping lanes but commander Mohizz, a representative of the 8th Dragon Squadron, has assured the local population that the system authority fleet which now patrols the 8th Dragon jurisdiction are quickly taking action to prevent further illegal activity.

THE GIN DRAGON RETURNETH

At his sensor array terminal in the flight operations centre, operator Maxx Cantrell picked up the heat signature of a Saud Kruger Beluga Liner on an approach vector towards the station. As duty and protocol required, he opened up a comms channel and hailed the fast moving vessel.

“Saud Kruger Foxtrot Uniform Romeo, this is Coney Gateway Flight Control. Please abide by station law and submit a docking request before landing.”

Within seconds, the Beluga pilot keyed an auto-request to the station’s internal computer which would assign the first free landing pad capable of accommodating the huge ship, subject to clearance from its human controller. Cantrell’s fingers flashed across the terminal in an almost automatic manner.

“Docking request approved,” he responded, green-lighting one of the largest landing pads. “You may alight on pad four-two.”

A moment later, the liner entered the docking bay with a carefully controlled velocity and set down regally onto the assigned pad.

As its engines powered down, wisps of hydrogen fuel spewed wildly from giant nacelles at its rear while docking clamps secured the landing legs to the platform...
